Project Description

Frostflame-The Blazing Blizzard is the book title and sub-title. The title reflects the central theme of the book, which is about a legendary dragonlord and his dragon, Frostflame. The title sounds interesting and uses two opposite elements and fuses them together. Frostflame is memorable and evokes curiosity of what it’s about almost instantly. The story becomes even more interesting when the readers find out that dragons do not normally like cold weather and the dragon itself is fond of ice and can breathe a special type of fire that causes foes to freeze.

The first typographic solution I selected is Jana Thork, a synthesis of stone engraved letterforms. It is elegant and is attractive to the eye which is great for the book title. The sub-title uses the same type family, Dejanire Headline. Dejanire is a highly legible serif type family that uses transitional roman type and is also inspired by Greek mythology. The next typographic combination I applied is Tacitus, a contemporary interpretation of historic imperial script and Rocky, which is elegant and balanced for text. I wanted to try a third option of Pentz, a playful and decorative headline style with Utopia Std Caption for sub-titles and body copy for its versatility, range and its contemporary aesthetic.
